Baby Mia was born, on March 31, 2008 at the Princess Margaret Hospital in the Commonwealth of Dominica. Mia was 3 months (24 weeks) premature weighing only 500 grams. Baby Mia has defied all odds despite being perceived dead less than two hours after birth.
Mia lay at her mother's side after baptism, presumed dead. Imagine her family's surprise as she started to twitch and cough slightly. Mia was alive, Praise God!
“God created the heavens and stretched them out; he fashioned the earth and all that lives there; he gave life and breath to all its people.” Isaiah 42:5
Seven days after her birth Mia continues to thrive. She has even been described as active and needs to sleep more. In order for Mia to continue to grow and develop she was urgently transferred to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Barbados, which has the resources necessary to sustain her life.
